Redmore Books - and music!

Redmore Books is the name of the record label and publishing imprint that represents the creative output of Jeremy Redmore.

Redmore’s unmistakable voice has played an important role in the fabric of New Zealand music ever since his songs first made their mark on the airwaves there in 2008.

Whether it’s been as the singer and chief songwriter of rock band Midnight Youth, or as a solo artist, Redmore has always had a knack for creating memorable songs that energise and capture the imagination of listeners.

His musical journey so far has encompassed four full-length albums, three Aotearoa Music Award gongs, a Silver Scroll, 10 top-40 New Zealand radio hits, over 22 million online streams and shows from China and Singapore to London, Berlin and Los Angeles.

Since 2009, Redmore has regularly visited schools across New Zealand with the New Zealand Music Commission, imparting his love for singing and songwriting to young Kiwis. That work then led to a sparkling new creative chapter in 2021…

What happens if you let a giant fluffy unicorn take you on an adventure with its animal friends to tell you about the power of being your authentic self? The only way to answer that question is by reading the debut children's book from award-winning New Zealand musician Jeremy Redmore and illustrator Jason Crowley — Sing Like A Unicorn.

Sing like a unicorn

Sing Like A Unicorn is a read-aloud picture book for children aged 2-7 that's wholly inspired by the idea that inside each of us is a completely unique individual that can be happier, more fulfilled and make the world a better place through embracing their originality. And one of the easiest and most fun ways to do that is by singing!

Jeremy Redmore's sweet and simple story has been placed within a visual wonderland by illustrator Jason Crowley; who brings a semi-fluffy and rather large unicorn to life in a land full of weird and wondrous creatures.

"The voice that Redmore uses throughout is quite something - part music, part story, all heart. This book is the culmination of multiple years of work and is cause for celebration. Sing Like a Unicorn is here to stay and should be part of all school libraries as recommended reading,"- NZ Booklovers, May 2022.

For first-time publishers Redmore and Crowley — who first met as teenagers while playing in a band at half-empty pubs across Auckland — Sing Like A Unicorn has reunited their creative worlds and, in the spirit of the book itself, is a self-published and limited-edition release straight out of Aotearoa.

Alongside the book, Redmore has crafted an original song and award-winning music video that sees the book’s characters come to life in song, dance and silliness.

Working in close collaboration with Redmore, Jason Crowley is the illustrator and designer behind Sing Like A Unicorn. A humble UI/UX Designer by day, he spends his evenings conjuring fantastical characters from the dark corners of his mind into the digital world.

SINGALONG

Following the success of Sing Like A Unicorn, Redmore proceeded to write, record and produce a follow-up kids song and music video: Singalong.

Just as in the case of Sing Like A Unicorn, Redmore worked with Awkward Animations to create an engaging stop-motion music video which went on to take out Best Animated Music Video at the 2024 Global Children’s Entertainment Awards.
